Applications and Use Cases of Our RFID Cards

Our RFID cards offer a wide range of applications and have become indispensable in almost every industry. They combine innovative technology with flexible use cases, making them suitable for a broad spectrum of scenarios. Here is an overview of the key applications and fields of use for our cards:

Access Control and Security

RFID cards are a reliable solution for access control in businesses, educational institutions, government agencies, and other facilities that require high security standards. They allow you to control and monitor access to specific areas. By encoding access rights and enabling real-time monitoring, you can ensure that only authorized individuals have access to sensitive areas.

Time Tracking

In many businesses and public institutions, RFID chip cards are used for accurate time tracking. Employees can record their working hours simply by presenting the card to a reader. This simplifies the management of working hours and enables efficient evaluation and billing of hours worked.

Cashless Payment

Our RFID chip cards are ideal for cashless payment systems, whether in cafeterias, bistros, vending machines, or at events. They enable fast and easy payments without the need for cash. This increases convenience for users while simultaneously reducing administrative efforts for businesses.

Membership and Loyalty Cards

RFID cards are often used as membership cards in gyms, swimming pools, sports clubs, and similar facilities. They provide an easy way to store member data and control access to specific areas. At the same time, they can be used as loyalty cards in retail stores or for customer loyalty programs, allowing customers to collect reward points or take advantage of special offers.

Public Transport

In public transport, RFID cards are widely used as tickets or season passes. They enable efficient and contactless ticketing, making access to buses, trains, and other means of transport easier. Additionally, they can be used in parking management systems to regulate access to parking garages and spaces.

Event Management and Ticketing

For events such as concerts, trade shows, or sports events, RFID chip cards provide a secure and convenient solution for event ticketing. They not only grant access to venues but can also be used for payments or managing VIP access. By integrating additional features like NFC, visitors can directly load information onto their smartphones.

Hotel and Hospitality Industry

In the hotel industry, RFID chip cards are frequently used as key or access cards. They provide guests with a convenient way to access their rooms and other hotel amenities, such as gyms or wellness areas. Additionally, by enabling features like payments for room services or minibar charges, these cards enhance the guest experience even further.

Education Sector

In schools, colleges, and universities, RFID cards often serve as student ID cards, which also function as library cards, access cards for labs, or payment cards in the cafeteria. They provide a convenient way to consolidate various services onto a single card, making daily life easier for students.

Healthcare Sector

In healthcare, RFID chip cards are used to securely store patient data and control access to hospitals and medical facilities. They enable quick identification and help reduce administrative tasks while enhancing patient safety.

 Industry and Logistics

In industry and logistics, RFID cards are used for employee identification and access control to warehouses, production facilities, and other security-sensitive areas. They can also be used for managing work hours and controlling access to machinery.

Electric Charging Stations

RFID cards are widely used in the field of electromobility. They serve as charging cards for electric charging stations, authorizing and processing the charging process. These cards enable a simple and secure use of charging stations, both for private users and fleet management systems. By integrating these cards into existing access or payment systems, you can offer a seamless user experience.

FAQs – Frequently Asked Questions about RFID Chip Cards

RFID chip cards can be configured, personalized, and purchased from us. We offer cards for various applications such as membership cards, library cards, company IDs, visitor cards, access cards, key cards, lift cards, and charging cards for e-mobility applications.

RFID chip cards
can easily be customized with different RFID chips, individual designs, and application-specific functions as needed.

Here is an overview of all available options:

  • Printed in your company or institution's custom corporate design (high-quality CMYK offset printing, with special colors/finishes available upon request)
  • Write fields, photo, and name personalization
  • Card punch holes for attachment to a lanyard or keychain
  • Professional encoding: UIDs, employee numbers, access rights, account balance, etc.
  • Hybrid solutions are also possible: Additional integration of QR/barcodes, magnetic stripes (LoCo, HiCo, Super HiCo), or dual chip cards (2 RFID chips with different frequency ranges, e.g., UHF for parking access, HF for building access, etc.)

We not only handle the production of secure RFID chip cards but also ensure proper encoding. This guarantees that your chip cards are correctly programmed and recognized by your readers as intended.

Initializing RFID chip cards

This process involves programming the card with static personalization without individualization. For example, applications are uploaded, and basic settings are configured.

Encoding RFID chip cards

In this step, the individual data of the various card users is stored on the cards. Permissions are linked to the cardholder and can be recognized correctly. During chip encoding, custom applications or simply the UID number can be stored on the RFID card. We are happy to prepare the data sets according to your requirements with our encoding service.

Hybrid cards, also known as dual-chip cards, are RFID cards equipped with two different RFID chips, combining two chip technologies in one medium. This allows the use of two RFID chip technologies with different frequency ranges, e.g., UHF (up to 10 meters) for parking garage access and HF (up to 10 cm) for building access.

If needed, additional integration of QR/barcodes and magnetic stripes is also possible. This broadens the application of the cards and makes it possible to manage everything with a single medium, creating an all-in-one solution.

RFID chip
cards differ from contact-based cards in that they can be read or written to without physical contact with the reader. This reduces wear and tear on the cards, resulting in a longer lifespan. Additionally, the chip in an RFID card is "invisible." The chip is embedded into the card during the production process, sealed in place during lamination.

NFC
stands for Near-Field Communication and also uses RFID protocols.

The main difference between the technologies is that an NFC device can act not only as a reader but also as a tag or card (Card Emulation Mode). In Peer-to-Peer Mode, it is also possible to transfer information between two NFC cards.

NFC operates on the same frequency as HF RFID systems, 13.56 MHz.

An RFID chip card works like any other RFID transponder. An RFID transponder consists of an antenna and a chip where all the data is stored. When the RFID card is held near a reader, the card is powered by the reader's electrical field through induction. This allows the RFID card to transmit data via the antenna.
