Worldwide, vehicles are rapidly being electrified to meet the individual and commercial demands of EMobility. Despite the advancements in fuel/power efficiency, drivers of electrified cars, buses, scooters and logistic vehicles continue to use traditional keys to start the ignition.
With the IGNITE-SMART READER from iDTRONIC vehicle owners have an innovative RFID-based solution to replace the cumbersome key management practices of the past. Utilizing HF and NFC frequencies, this durable reader supports all DESFire and NFC technology-based “keys” including tags, smart cards/phones/watches and other transponders. In addition, the IGNITE-SMART READER communicates over a CANbus (SAE J1939 or CANopen) interface, which allows for an easy integration in most vehicle types.

Security: The reader is preset by the manufacturer and encrypted with Triple DES (special encryption advocated by insurance companies).

Thanks to the multiple activation/reading options, the IGNITE-SMART READER can be used in a variety of applications. For example, it is possible to activate vehicles such as e-scooters, e-quads or construction vehicles via a (chip) card, so that the reader serves as a mechanical key. Another option suited well for gokarts, is inputting performance (hp) limitations based on the driver class, for example children versus adults. Integrating this RFID technology in any type of fleet management ensures improved access control and manageability of vehicle usage.
